Geometry Lesson Plans
Pythagorean Theorem Unit:This lesson was to help students discover the distance formula. I let the students explore many different ways in which to find the distance between two points on the x-y coordinate plane. I believe that by showing the students that there is more than one way to use the distance formula, the students can find what way works best for them and use that way to solve the problem.

The project below was given to my honors class. While we were learning about area and surface area my bathroom got remodeled. This inspired me to come up with a project by looking into the price the remodel was going to cost. I had students create a net of my bathroom and calculate the estimate cost based off of pricing I found online for drywall and paint in the Lansing Area. To the right is an example of student work.

This lesson had students creating their own carry-on based off of the regulations of US Airways. The students got to explore what dimensions made the biggest rectangular prism carry-on. When the students completed that, they worked to find other 3D shapes with the same volume as the biggest carry-on. Examples of students' solutions are to the left.
